PREVIOUSLY FUNDED PROPOSALS
Since 2005, four rounds of Cultural Participation grants have been awarded, preceded by Recognition Awards for those who “have made exemplary cultural contributions to the Clackamas community.” Recognition honors totaling $10,000 were awarded to six individuals and seven organizations, selected from a field of 47 nominations solicited from the public.
Cumulative response to the four annual grant opportunities have elicited 77 applications from the full range of county arts, humanities and heritage practitioners, providers and guardians. A total of $87,743 has been awarded to 45 applicants, including visual artists, a writer, small business owners, creative practitioners, various museums and heritage organizations, theaters, a symphony, a chorus, arts festivals and events, and several city arts commissions. In addition to Oregon Cultural Trust funds, $6,344 has been awarded to three projects funded through a Heritage Tourism and Youth Program contributed by Clackamas County Tourism Development Council.
In an effort to provide unbiased perspective for applicants, all grant review panels were comprised of arts, humanities and heritage professionals based outside Clackamas County; 16 have served in the past four processes.
