PROJECT GRANT GUIDELINES
Overview
APPLICATION
The Clackamas County Cultural Coalition Community Participation Grants are made possible by funding from the Oregon Cultural Trust. This grant program is intended to provide support of project-based needs related to arts, hertiage and humanities.
This project-based grant program is intended to respond to the Vision, Goals, Strengths and Challenges described in the Clackamas County Cultural Plan for Arts, Heritage and Humanities 2008 - 2012. Download Full Plan.
Grant proposals should specifically address one or more of the Plan’s eight Funding Priorities:
- Creative People & Organizations
- Heritage & History
- Participation
- Public Art
- K-12 Education and Lifelong Learning
- Facilities & Sites
- Natural Sites

The Plan’s “Actions” will serve as a general framework for evaluating proposals. The Coalition is particularly interested in proposals that offer creative and innovative strategies for addressing the Funding Priorities. Proposals that represent collaborations and partnerships are encouraged. “Frequently Asked Questions” will provide additional information.
Any Clackamas County-based organization working in the fields of arts, heritage and/or humanities can apply. Individuals may also apply if they are based in Clackamas County. Some exceptions may be made for organizations or individuals who reside outside the county interested in applying if their project or program significantly and positively impacts or engages individuals, businesses or other organizations in Clackamas County; and demonstrates strong collaboration (both financial and non-financial) with Clackamas County residents, businesses, or other organizations. Tax-exempt status is not a prerequisite. All applicants should be very familiar with the Clackamas County Cultural Plan for Arts, Heritage and Humanities 2008-12 before preparing a grant application.

Guidelines
- Project Grant request should not exceed $5,000. See FAQs for more information related to project grant applications and eligibility.
- Partnerships and collaborations will increase prospects of project funding.
- General operating and endowment support will not be considered
- Applicant's financial support and budget will be closely reviewed, with the expectation that all applicants will provide some matching funds and/or in-kind contributions toward their project’s success. If the proposed project is intended as part of a larger concept, evidence of financial sustainability beyond this project grant period will be required
- A brief post-project narrative and financial report, will be required of all grant recipients 30 days after completion of project or implementation of grant funds, and may include press clippings, photos and other documentation
- Submit application on 8-1/2x11 white, 3-hole-punched paper, printed both sides. Proposal narrative must not exceed two (2) double-sided pages, 12-point type, with 1” margins. Do not bold-face type entire proposal. Bold-face type is acceptable to highlight specific points of reference or headings and titles.
Application Evaluation
The Grant Review Panel will assess all applications using the following criteria:
- Does the project impact Challenges and/or forward Actions described in the Cultural Plan?
- Does the project provide a creative or innovative approach to meeting the Funding Priorities?
- Does the project include meaningful and substantive collaborative relationships?
- Does the project budget demonstrate a realistic understanding of all necessary expenses? Are the project budget and timeline carefully constructed, with explicit details?
- Does the applicant describe an ability to carry out the proposed project?
- Does the Application reflect information and instructions provided in Guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions?
